With the exterior reflecting a patchwork of architectural styles from different eras, achieving cohesion was paramount.

While initial plans to modify the Portico were met with resistance, creative solutions emerged, including a strategic use of color to unify the disparate elements and repurposing wasted space to accommodate an in-law apartment.

Where History Meets Hospitality

Their love of cooking meant the kitchen was a priority throughout the renovation process. This space needed to seamlessly combine the old-world charm of custom millwork and hardwood floors with contemporary luxuries and amenities.

This meticulously crafted kitchen delivers in every way. As the heart of this home, reclaimed wood beams from a distant barn find new purpose as a focal point of warmth and character. Dark-toned cabinetry juxtaposes with original hardwood floors, creating a space that is both inviting and functional.

The design focused on integrating features that were both essential to a chef's kitchen and functional for how the family lived in and used the space. The addition of double islands and a coffee bar speaks to the homeowners' desire for a workspace that adapts to their dynamic lifestyle. The adjacent dining room retains its original charm with a fresh coat of paint.
